THE PROCESS

To order either a current design or a custom piece, please contact us by email or telephone. To commission a custom piece an initial conversation will take place to discuss a client's needs, and any special issues, such as function, size, etc. I will also advise the client on material selection and the best method of construction for each design. This can be done via a combination of telephone, email and fax.

Initial concept sketches are prepared so clients can fully visualize the piece before construction begins. Material samples can also be prepared to ensure the color and texture are suitable for the chosen design. Work up to this point is billed at a rate of $75/hour. This amount will be billed to the client if the work does not proceed past this stage. If the client moves forward with production, these charges will be applied toward the production cost.

A written quotation is then given for the final design agreed upon. This will detail all design specifications, materials to be used, price and an estimated completion date.

To confirm the order and to be assigned a place in our production schedule, we require a deposit of 10% which is non-refundable. This may vary on custom orders if special materials need to be purchased, such as exotic woods. 50% of the balance is due at commencement of production, and the final balance due at completion prior to shipping. Handcrafted furniture cannot be rushed, therefore our delivery times are generally around 8 -12 weeks from date of confirmation to delivery. Size of the project and custom design or materials may affect the turn-around time and will be discussed during the design phase of the project.
